![]() Oh man.. the Neo-Geo... What a wonderful idea for an arcade system.. and such a horrible idea for a home console. The Neo-Geo was top of the line in in 1990, it was arcade quality hardware, there was no porting games, it played the exact same games as the arcade system. It was the TRUE arcade experiece at home. Oh, I forgot to mention, the home console cost about $499. If that wasn't enough to convince anyone to get a Sega Genesis for 1/5th the price, each game was priced anywhere between $100 and $250.. Right... So, it wasn't long before SNK stopped advertising the home version of the Neo-Geo. But, that didn't stop the Neo-Geo from being a huge success in the arcade, with games still being made by SNK for the system all the way up to 2002. Companies like Playmor still make games for it's arcade counterpart today.
Nebula Nebula probably the best Neo-Geo emulator in existance. It's easy to setup and very well documented, it also happens to emulate Capcom CPS1 and CPS2 arcade hardware. Nebula supports a huge range of rastering engines like 2xSAI, 2xScale, as well as Super Eagle, and Scanlines. Nebula also supports Online play, and enhancements such as true transparencies, a screenshot factory, and recording movies of gameplay (so when you kick your friend's ass, hardcore, in Last Blade 2 you can show it to him later to remind him... Matt...) Nebula does require a copy of the Neo-Geo BIOS for operation and since SNK (kind of-sort of) went out of business a few years ago, I don't see a problem with making the BIOS available for download. Nebula is only available for Windows operating systems.
BIOS Images The Neo-Geo, like so many other high end consoles, requires a BIOS that saves settings and controls basic functions of the system like calls to controllers and memory cards. So here it is, a perfect collection of the Neo-Geo BIOS files. Just drop this in the directory with your ROMS and Nebula should recognize it right off the bat. |
