AGES 0.25a Released!! April 9, 2001 - 1:32PM EST

Well.. While I wasn't looking Quinntesson slipped out a new version of his Sega Genesis/Sega-CD/32-X emulator last saturday. Looks like he's managed to squeeze in quite a lot of work in the past 2 months. No sound yet, maybe he'll have it ready for the next version. Not much on the 32-X side, but fear not, he intends to start working on the 32-X side to play those rare 32-X CD games.

Check out the latest changes on the Emulation News page.
You can grab the new emulator from the Sega-CD Section.

Trying To Stay Afloat In A World Full Of Bullshit March 26, 2001 - 12:50AM EST

<<<Warning! Explicit Language Below!>>>

Okay.. This really sucks.. I sign up with this ISP called
IBS Networks for DSL service (through Northpoint). They offered me 784k Up/Downstream and 4 Static IP addresses for $89 a month, good deal I though. Anyway, they come out and install my new DSL line last wednesday and I get to bask in my 784k glory..... For 2 whole days. I get an e-mail from IBS saying:

Oh, by the way, Northpoint went bankrupt, AT&T bought everything they own except the customers, so you just paid us $399 to have your line installed and $89 for a month of service and you'll probably be shut off within the next week or so, we won't be looking for a replacement line provider for you so we'll just cancel your contract. Oh, and there will be no refund for you, even though you've only had your DSL for 2 days, have a nice day sucker. One more small thing.. could you bend over a little bit more so we will have an easier time shoving our foot right up your already bleeding asshole.

Thanks for the cash shmuck,
Erica
IBS Networks

P.S. Don't forget to check out picture of me here at www.plumpers.com!

I'm paraphrasing, in case you hadn't noticed.
All of this.. on my FUCKING BIRTHDAY! We'll see how they feel about the whole thing when they find out I've told my credit card company to refuse any charges from them. Fucking Douchebags. So, I'm on the lookout for a new DSL provider, but unfortunately all that's available in my area now as far as lines go is Covad and they are horrendously expensive comparatively, But it looks like I have no choice. I'll have to settle for 608k Downstream, 128k Upstream with 2 Static IP addresses for $59 a month through Speakeasy.net, and I'll probably have to pay another damn install fee.. Why does a 33.6 NetZero connection all of the sudden look so inviting?

Just Plain Outrageous! March 17, 2001 - 11:07AM EST

Well, in arcade news, I received my Dragon Spirit board with out a hitch and it's every bit as wonderful as I remember it. The LifeForce board, well, that looked more like the people at the post office tried to save space by folding it in half. Needless to say, it didn't work and now I have to deal with the post office to get the insurance from them, which by the way will probably take half my life to get. Now on to the completely psychotic arcade collecting behavior.

I am attempting to take out a loan in order to purchase a......

Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix arcade machine.

I can't stop thinking about this game.. I am hopelessly addicted.. This game should be listed with the FDA as a narcotic. I have put too much money that I'd like to admit to in this games just in the past week. Now, if everything goes right I'll be making 22 hour round trip to New Jersey to pick it up by the end of the month. Hehehehehehe.

NESten Mappers Updated! March 8, 2001 - 10:01PM EST

Quietust, from the NESten team updated the mappers for version NESten 0.61 beta 1. Looks like there are quite a few changes, 2 new game mappers and almost 20 fixed existing mappers.

Check out what's new on the Emulation News page.

ePSXe 1.2.0 released! March 8, 2001 - 9:12AM EST

Looks like the ePSXe team dropped a new version of their emulator out yesterday and I'm not really sure how I missed it. Among the new features is Save State support, which is something I've never seen in a PSX emulator, But it looks like only a hand full of plugin's actually support it.. Namely Pete's and Lewpy's. Anyway, I've got it now.. so head on over to the Playstation Section and grab a piece of emu goodness.

Check out the full list of changes in this version on the Emulation News page.

Gens v0.95a released! March 4, 2001 - 10:37AM EST

Stef seems to have forgotten to fix a broken rom before he released v0.95 on friday. So here is Gens v0.95a with fixed support for Fido Dido. Download it here.

Gens v0.95 released! March 2, 2001 - 4:04PMEST

Stef has updated his Sega Genesis Emulator, Gens to version 0.95today. Among updates and new features he has added the wonderful ability to play 4 player games! Now I can only think of 2 games that ever used the 4 player adapter, but there have to be more than that somewhere.

Another Day, Another Game. February 28, 2001 - 10:16AM EST

To my great surprise I won an auction for a Life Force PCB on E-bay.. I put the bid in 10 minutes or so before the auction ended and figured for certain I would get sniped as usual. But I guess no one was looking, so I should have that board coming in by the end of the week..
I updated the my board list on the Projects page, I also removed Dragon Spirit from my Wishlist (looks like Gyruss is next) and added a full sized cabinet I never intend to get :). After which I added a price to the one PCB that I am passively selling on my For Sale page. It's shaping up to be a good day.

N64 and Sega-CD updates February 26, 2001 - 11:20PM EST

Well, The Sega-CD and Nintendo 64 sections now have title images, downloads, readme files, and homepage links. Hey, it's a start. Now that they are started I should be getting some screenshots up shortly and then maybe some system specs and short stories. Be patient!

Update: February 27, 2001 - 9:57PM EST: Added some system Specs, maybe more by the end of the night.

Monitor Progress February 24, 2001 - 1:41AM EST

Got my monitors identified with the help of Bob Roberts' What's My Monitor?? page. Turns out my Aero Fighters cabinet has an Electrohome G07-CBO, and my Vendetta cabinet has a Wells-Gardner K4900 Series. I then placed and order with the sacred Happ Controls for 2 Cap Kits, which were only around 8 bucks, and some miscellaneous parts that I haven't been able to order because they weren't enough to make the $25 minimum order that Happ has. When I get the parts in I'll start working on that tutorial.. so expect that soon.

First Arcade Update of the Year! February 23, 2001 - 11:03AM EST

Yes. Here it is, the first update since August of last year. So here we are! I finally got a Dragon Spirit board locked down. I sent the money order out today and hopefully should have the board some time by the end of next week! I ended up getting one for $175 (including shipping) which all in all is a good price since these PCBs are pretty hard to come by. Now if I could just get my hands on a good Gyruss board for $80 or less (preferably with JAMMA wiring harness).

I'm also in the process of figuring out what the manufactures of my monitors are so I can get Capacitor kits for both of them to hopefully get rid of the jailbars that are creeping up on the left side of my Aero Fighters cabinet. Maybe I can get that done tonight. I'll take some pictures and maybe put up a tutorial in the Technical Section.

Word.... February 18, 2001 - 7:18PM EST

It's amazing how domesticated a person can feel after buying a house.. I just spent most of the day fixing a leaking water valve, hooking up my washing machines, doing laundry, washing dishes, and miscellaneous other house cleaning chores. The odd part is I felt a kind of satisfaction that never came with doing those thing in an apartment. Weird.

Thing seem to have slowed down on the emulation scene, maybe people are losing interest, or just have more exciting real lives.

Hey, here's something Arcade machine related but not enough to be news. I found a Dragon Spirit board for sale.. I was all excited until the person told me it was 200 dollars shipped.. Just for the damn board.. Sad thing is a FULL SIZED original cabinet of Dragon Spirit just sold for about 200 bucks on E-bay last week..

Speaking E-bay.. If you're interesting in Anime at all, I am selling the full VHS series of Neon-Genesis Evangelion, The Vision of Escaflowne, and Street Fighter 2 V, on E-bay affiliate Half.com. They are all the Japanese language versions with English subtitles, I've only watch each of them twice, and they are all listed at 1/2 retail cost so buy them up! Here is a list of everything that I'm currently selling.

DreamGBC 2001 Updated? February 17, 2001 - 10:35PM EST

I guess it happened, though if you check the emulator's website you wouldn't think it did. The GameBoy Color emulator DreamGBC 2001 was updated to Final Beta 4. I saw the news on Vintage Gaming Network a while ago, but never got around to grabbing it. I have been thinking of switching this to my GBC emulator of choice, but it's not quite there yet. Take a look at it though.. You might just like it. DreamGBC 2001 FinalBeta 4

Take a look at the Changes in this release on the Emulation News Page.

Word.... February 16, 2001 - 2:20PM EST

Bored at work today so I figured I'd fiddle with the site some. Updated the downloads in the Genesis section so the latest version of GENS is now available from there. I'll probably have the latests versions of ePSXe, ZSNES, and Magic Engine up by the end of the day. Also poked around at the Links page trying to clean that up a little, didn't get to far through.

AGES Sega-CD goodness! Febuary 15, 2001 - 6:22PM EST

Oddlly Enought I don't remember seeing anything about this when it happened.. Well, here goes.. On February 2, Quinntesson released a new version of the Sega Genesis/32x/Sega-CD emulator AGES and it looks like it has quite a few changes in store for us.

Check out the full list in the Emulation News section. Or you can download WinAGES v0.24a-SP here!

Word.... Febuary 15, 2001 - 5:25PM EST

I have started working on my Sega-CD section, and should have it up in a few days, as well as a little story to go along with with Nintendo Section. I've been pondering the N-64 section lately, as I hate having a blank white page up there. So I guess I'll have to take care of that somehow also. Moved all the updates from the year gone by to the News Archives section, in an effort to decrease load times, seems to have worked. I've also been thinking I don't like to look of my webpage much anymore.. Been toying with the idea of an overhaul since I registered the domain name.. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

Yea! NESten Update! Febuary 14, 2001 - 6:09PM EST

Well, NESten has seen a new release. 0.61 Beta 1 was released a few days ago with a lot of the changes we've all been looking forward to, like the video plugin system, and updated mappers.. MMC5 emulation has come a long way since the last release and Castlevania 3 is actually playable with no hacks. Congrats to the NESten Mapper team on that one. Unfortunately with all of the bliss from the update one thing you'll quickly notice is that there is no Full Screen option, but TNse says that it will be coming soon, so hopefully we shouldn't have to wait too long. You can get the latest version from the NESten website or from the Nintendo section here.

Word.... Febuary 15, 2001 - 5:59PM EST

Here we go, the first real update. Over the next day or so I should be getting the rest of the site back up to date as far as downloads and such are concerned. But I guess I should pull out some of the news I've missed while I was unable to do a proper update. Expect more tomorrow as I get a chance to catch up on the latest news on the scene, including some whoop-ass Sega-CD stuff! Stay Tuned!

Another Semi-Update January 5, 2001 - 4:20PM EST

Okay.. Quick little update here.. The house project is going slower than expected.. So the site still isn't running full speed yet.

On a cooler note.. I have a domain name now.. I am the proud owner of www.arcadezone.org! I was hoping to get the whole "Dot Com" thing going but someone beat me to it.. Maybe when their holdings on it expire I can sneak in a grab it.. That would rock. We'll see.

Several new versions of DreamGBC, which is now called DreamGBC 2001, have been released. Huge advances! This guy never ceases to amaze me. Sound in Zelda is just about right.. I figure in 2 months or so this should be the best GBC emu out there.. YEAH!

CPS2 Encryption has been broken by the wonderful team over at CPS-2 Shock, and an Emulator is already out.. talk about a huge emulation hurdle being cleared. Dave, of DGEN fame has added CPS2 emulation to his Afterburner hardware emulator Final Burn. Hopefully this breakthrough in encryption will give owners of "Capcom Suicide" boards some fraction of hope for permanent resurrection.

That's all for now.. Catch ya later..

Tell me how much I suck! Niobium
