retroDrive Release 4 Dec 17, 2001 - 1:32PM EST

Being my usual punctual self with news posts here.... Tim Meekins' released the 4th incarnation of his Sega Genesis/32-X emulator retroDrive back on November 23rd. Not a masive list of changes here, just some minor compatability issues and a new game works, RBI Baseball. I personally didn't notice anything different when I tried it. But hey, a new release is a new release.

GENS 1.30 was released today with quite a few Sega-CD enhancements. Be sure to check this version out as it now has CGOffline Support, which is a fast way to get Game Genie codes out of a Genesis game! Check out the list of changes here:

VisualBoyAdvance hits .6 Nov 5, 2001 - 12:42PM EST

Forgotten let loose the latest version of his GB/GBA emulator
VisualBoyAdvance yesterday. With a few nifty changes including Motion Sensor support for games like Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble, and somehow got support for the GameBoy Pocket Printer in there.. Not sure how that works but I've never seen another emulator that supports it. Here is the current list of changes:

AGES v0.26a released (6 days ago) Nov 5, 2001 - 12:31PM EST

This was a bit of a shock. Quinntesson dropped a bombshell on us and released a new version of his Sega Genesis/Sega-CD/32x emulator
AGES. Reclaiming the thron of most compatable Sega-CD emulator in existance, this version also adds something that has been sorely lacking in AGES since the beginning. SOUND! The reason? Quinntesson has taken the time to completely reverse enginerer the Yamaha YM2612 chip in the genesis rather than use canned source code from MAME (like a lot of other Genesis emulators out there). Big congrats to the Q-meister! Check out the list of changes:

GENS 1.20 (A little late) Oct 21, 2001 - 1:02PM EST

Stef is at it again.
GENS 1.20 was released.. Hmm.. Looks like it was on friday. I actually downloaded and tested it on friday, but was too lazy to actually do a site update, oh well it's here now. I actually haven't had any luck with Sega-CD emulation with GENS, it detects my CD-Rom correctly now but locks up the program when I actually try to play a game. Perhaps you'll have more luck than I. Here is the list of changes:

NESten 6.1 Beta 2 Leaked? October 18, 2001 - 6:19PM EST

Well it looks like a Pre-release of the Nintendo emulator NESten got leaked. No real list of changes, but It looks like Kaillera netplay support is now in.. Unfortunately there is still no Full Screen option, but perhaps by the time the next release is really ready it will have been added.

Be sure to check it out in the Nintendo Section!

VisualBoyAdvance 0.51 released. October 8, 2001 - 12:50PM EST

Forgotten released an update to his GameBoy/GB Advance emulator
VisualBoyAdvance today. Couple bug fixes here an there, I'm sure it's worth a look.

Be sure to check it out in the GameBoy Section!

Change in GameBoy Emulators! October 6, 2001 - 2:46PM EST

Well.. I finally found another GameBoy emulator that I'm happy with, VisualBoyAdvance! It's a very good GameBoy and GameBoy Advance emulator. Also, unlike REW, it's still being updated and there is actually a homepage for it! Wow, go figure.

Be sure to check it out in the GameBoy Section!

ZSNES 1.337 r1.06! Sept 30, 2001 - 11:47PM EST

Looks like the
ZSNES team decided to space out the releases a bit. The latest version has a MASIVE list of changes:

Did anyone actually read all that? :)

Download it now from the Super Nintendo Section.

RetroDrive 3 released! Sept 30, 2001 - 11:20AM EST

Tim Meekins released a new version of his Genesis/32x emulator RetroDrive. The list of updates was pretty bland except for the addition of 32X PMW sound. Still worth a look see as the latest version also has a number of bug fixes and emulation speed ups.

Tim has also decided to make the source code from his Hitatchi SH-2 RiSC chip open source, so all you coders out there can hack away at it.. Someone needs to get Virtua Racer Deluxe working. :)

Grab the latest version of RetroDrive from the Sega 32-X section.

Well.. Isn't this a suprise.. Sept 21, 2001 - 6:20PM EST

Looks like Stef has been holding back on us.. keeping little secrets about his Sega Genesis Emulator
GENS! Version 1.10 was released today with the nifty bonus of Sega-CD emulation. Well, not really the beginnings, seems he's been working on it since version 0.84 which would mean that he's been keeping this under his hat for about a year! Way to go!
