MagicEngine news? Really? June 14, 2004 - 3:54PM EST

Well.. The last update to the, oh so nifty, PC Engine/Turbografx-16 emulator MagicEngine was back on June 22, 2002.. and in all that time David has been talking about the work he and his brother were doing on the fabled MagicEngine 1.0... Well, here's what he dropped on the MagicEngine main page yesterday.... Could this be it.. could we be within meer months of a release date... Only time will tell.. :)

VisualBoyAdvance 1.7.2 released June 14, 2004 - 3:35PM EST

Forgotten released the last version of VisualBoyAdvance that will bare his name as programmer last month. Yes, Real Life has claimed yet another emulation author, Forgotten seems to have lost all interst in keeping VisualBoyAdvance going. There is good news though, it seems that another author has taken reign of the Emulators future. Someone that goes by the name Kxu has taken over the project, so perhaps this is not the end for our favorite GameBoy/GameBoy Advance emulators after all.

Nebula 2.24 update finally posted June 14, 2003 - 2:56PM EST

ElSemi released a new version his wonderful Neo-Geo emulator Nebula FOREVER ago.. I remember seeing it on his site, but at the time I didn't think the changes were really enough to worry about updating the site quickly.. But hey, I haven't touched the Neo-Geo Section in so long, I figured I might as well put up something, well, that and Adam stopped by the house last night and made me actually think about Nebula. Perhaps it will encourage me to get some screenshots up on that page. :)

June 9th, WIP ZSNES Build June 14, 2004 - 2:36PM EST

Ipher dropped 2 more builds of ZSNES since the one on May 8th. Not too many changes, but still probably worth the time to download. The ZSNES guys keep threatening to do an official release soon.. But hey, I'm happy with what we're getting. Makes me wonder if Ipher will keep releasing WIP builds after the next official release. Who knows....

Not that new Work-In-Progress build of ZSNES May 24, 2004 - 1:45PM EST

Ipher released a WIP build of ZSNES on May 8th.. Ummm.. Yeah.. I'm still sticking with my Ninja Gaiden defense.. :)

FCE Ultra 0.98.10 May 24, 2004 - 1:30PM EST

Yes, I am a lazy ass.. :) FCE Ultra 0.98.9 came and went and I did nothing.. 0.98.10 has been out for a week now and I'm just posting about it. I blame it on my Ninja Gaiden addiction.

New Work-In-Progress build of ZSNES May 4, 2004 - 11:26AM EST

Ipher released a new WIP build of ZSNES on Saturday.. yet again, I downloaded it on release and have been enjoying it far too much to take the time to update my website. :) Actually, that's not true, I downloaded it Saturday and was just too lazy to update the site. What does it matter really.. :) Like all WIP builds, some stuff is fixed, other stuff is probably broken, use at your own risk.

FCE Ultra 0.98.8 April 25, 2004 - 12:39AM EST

FCE Ultra continues it's almost daily run of releases with the new 0.98.8.
Insert something almost witty here.

FCE Ultra back in the Binary Business April 22, 2004 - 1:22PM EST

Well, isn't this nice to see. After 7 sourcecode only releases of the NES emulator FCE Ultra Xod has seen fit to bestow upon us 2 Win32 Binary release in 2 days. The latest of which is 0.98.7. The list of changes since the last binary release is so absolutely HUGE that I'm not even going to try to post it.

Notable things among the changes are: Unfortunately, Xod hasn't implimented fullscreen stretch support with the new scalers. However, when I asked him about this not working on his forums, he said he understood why that would be a desireable feature and he'd look into adding it in a future release. Let's hope so.. :)

ScummVM - The other world of Emulation March 2, 2004 - 12:26PM EST

In my absense from updating the site, I've taken some time to play around with other forms of emulation. One of the more impressive emulators I've been following is ScummVM. It's an emulator for all of the Lucas Arts adventure games that used the Maniac Mansion engine (or a modified version of it). Not only that, but it supports the game files from damn near any version that was released, PC, Amiga, Mac, hell even the Commodore-64 version are supports.

All I can say is that I've had an absolute blast being able to play "Sam N' Max: Hit The Road" and "Full Throttle" one more time, with 2XSAI or HQ3X. So, if you have any old Lucas Arts adventure games laying around.. dust them off an laugh all over again.. :)

Check out ScummVM
If you decide to use it, be sure to download the "Snapshot Builds" at the top of the downloads page. They are updated every night.

Yet again, more ZSNES WIP releases March 2, 2004 - 10:53AM EST

Well, looks like Ipher got his machine replaced after his pre-New Year tragedy. Which seems to be a good thing as we all get to benfit from it by way of the latest ZSNES Work-In-Progress build. Couple interface features here, few bug fixes there. All in all, it looks to be work few minutes to check out.. So get to it.

Catching up on VBA 1.7.1 news.. March 2, 2004 - 10:06AM EST

Yeah, what a busy beginning of a year this has turned out to be.. Umm.. Yeah...

Forgotten released a new version of his wonderful GameBoy/GameBoy Adavance emulator VisualBoyAdvance earlier last month, and being on top of things as always, I've got it here. This release is mainly bug fixes to version 1.7, but Forgotten gives us all a heads up that this will probably be the last release for a while, as he plans to take a close look at the emulators timing instead of fixing more bugs.

New ZSNES WIP release January 28, 2004 - 2:20PM EST

There has been a lack of WIP releases of ZSNES from Ipher since his harddrive crash just before New Years. However, it looks like Pagefault has taken to releasing them in the meantime. He also spreads word that an "Official" might be coming in the near future, which would be nice seeing as the last real release has an .exe dated July 15, 2002.

There is a warning on Pagefault's site that states:
"IMPORTANT MAKE SURE YOU DELETE YOUR OLD ZSNESW.CFG AND ZGUIDATW.DAT FILES!!!"
Sounds like something worth listening to. :)
